Because of the importance of self-assessment to critical thinking and because it helps us reflect on what we're learning, we're going to watch our videos and try to judge how well we read using a certain criteria.

Here is our interactive video on Youtube...click on our pictures to watch us read "Night Flight".

Big Dance

Big Dance is one of the most integrated acitivity done in the school. It was conducted in the same period in different countries. Same movements, same vibrations, same cooperation and spirit were spotted in different locations of the world. It took place Friday May 20,2011 in Down Town near the clock at 3 p.m where the British Ambassador Ms.Guy and BC director Ms Barbara Hewitt watched the students’ performance. It is the taste of international work and global diversity. The purpose of the event is to leverage the number of participants to 3 millions around the year 2012 to break the Guinness record as a Big Dance. It was an incredible and exciting show. At the end, a big and warm Thanks for the British Council, and especially Mayssa Dawi, the project coordinator who gave us the opportunity to participate in this global work and promising outcome.

Makassed ERC workshop: Integrating Mouse Mischief in classrooms

Different workshops organized by Makassed ERC took place on Friday May 20th. One of these workshops was about the new Microsoft technology “Mouse Mischief” and how to integrate it in classrooms. Twenty – five participants from different Makassed schools attended this session. The session provided training on what is “Mouse Mischief”, how to use it, its features, advantages, and the best ways to integrate it in the classroom. Attendees watched several presentations of sample lessons where I used “Mouse Mischief” technology with my students. At the end of the workshop a show-and- tell discussion was held in which attendees made presentations about the skills that were discussed in the workshop.
Special thanks go to Makassed ERC for organizing this workshop to keep teachers ahead with the latest technologies.

Reflections On The Lunch Box Project

It was really enjoyable to take part of a big project and learn new things from other countries. We have learned how the weather affects our food habits and life style and how eating healthy food helps us concentrate and learn better....and the best thing about this project, of course, that we have collaborated with lovely friends.
We thank our friends in Australia, USA,  United Kingdom, Portugal, Canada, France, Mexico, Jordan, and Tajikistan for sharing.  As the school year draws to a close, we want to let you know how much we treasure your friendship!
Special Thank You to Ms. Jess McCulloch from Melbourne, Australia. You're so special!

Beautiful and fascinating drawings!

"Our classroom is in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains, two ski hills, and many small neighborhoods."
Ms. Lisa Hogue

Thank you for sharing! Each drawing tells a story...We can now begin comparing the outside changes.
Drawing is a natural language for us...

The Earth Day Groceries Project

 Every Day is Earth Day
getting involved in our community

The Earth Day Groceries Project is an environmental awareness project. It's managed online by Mr. Mark Ahlness at Arbor Heights Elementary School in Seattle, Washington. This is the eighteenth year this project has been coordinated on the internet. Hundreds of schools have participated from High Schools to Kindergarten classes. We, too, have participated and borrowed paper grocery bags from local grocery stores. Then, we decorated them in the classroom with pictures of the Earth and wrote our environmental messages. Finally, we returned the decorated grocery bags to the stores. The stores then distributed these bags to shoppers on Earth Day. It was really a good way to get involved in our community and spread these messages out. We think we did something with pictures and words...

Our Beloved River

Incorporation with Med Bank on working on the “Green School” Grade three students attended a puppet show about “Our Beloved River” that was prepared by grade four. Through this show grade four showed third graders the importance of water and the way we should take care of it in order to save our environment and fulfill our needs: such as drinking, washing, showering… At the end of this productive show, grade four students took the role of the teacher and held out a discussion that was seized to make sure students’ attitudes and habits will become environmental friendly. Thanks to our dear students in grade four: Odai Ghaleb who played the role of the narrator and was responsible for holding the discussion at the end of the puppet show. He played his role successfully in asking appropriate questions and providing third graders with related important information according to the topic. Also, thanks to Hiba Azani who played the role of the princess and gave crucial advice to third graders concerning protecting our environment. Thank you Ali Bissani, Rakan El Khatib, Mohamad Misto, Aya Dokmak my dear students you did a great job to make this show successful…

"We Made Your Food"
Our group from Germany decided to make some Lebanese food. We made Labne and Hummus and ate it with olives and pita bread. It was very tasty. I asked the students to explain what they liked best about this activity and they said:
"It was fun to do."
"We worked well as a team."
"It brought us closer together and we worked well as a team."

Lunch Box Project: Answers from Germany

Our friends at Leipzig International School in Germany have sent us a  message telling us that they've watched the video we made for them and they had a go at saying the Arabic. They'll make a short video of it for us soon! They also told us that they just adored seeing us watch their video in the classroom and  they  especially LOVED the bit at the end about Miss Martini being gorgeous. It is now a well used phrase in their classroom.

Here is a video our German friends have posted on our  "Lunch Box" wiki page to answer our questions. We're so excited that they're going to try  'hummus' and 'labne' tomorrow.
Thank you dear friends...we're sure you'll like the taste of our Lebanese food.
