Building A Snowman Without Snow: Craig, CO, USA

Winter is a time for many fun activities with snow. One of the snow adventures is to make a snowman. The traditional way is to head outdoors and pack the snow, but our friends at Sunset Elementary School in Craig Colorado, USA, have built their own snowmen without any snow! Mrs. Cheryl Arnett, what a fun winter activity! This is the sweetest project I have seen in a long time...Those snowmen are adorable... and your video is very fun to watch!
SUPER CUTE! Thank You

My Favorite Place To Visit

hand- in- hand
Lebanon cities are among the famous names in ancient history, such as Baalbak, Tripoli, Sidon, Tyre, and Jbeil. Ruins are still standing proud to show the greatness of the people who lived in Lebanon. We have learned about our beloved country through different class activities. We began by brainstorming different important cities and marked them on the map. It was so interesting to use the internet to locate Lebanon on the world map. Each one of us chose a city we would like to research and did a project about our favorite places to visit and presented them to class.

The Little Big Club Live Concert

Kindergarten students attended "The Little Big Concert" at Biel. They saw different cartoon characters, sang, danced and learned different moves . They had lots of fun with friends from different Makassed schools. It was really a great concert enjoyed by teachers and children alike.

The Best Gift I Ever Received!

Question Of The Day
What's the best gift you have ever received and what made it so special? Who gave it to you? When? Why was it the best? There are no wrong answers...

Body Outline

Our teacher traced the bodies of our friends Mohammad Khattab and Arwa Terek. We drew their faces' parts, counted them and painted their clothes with blue and red colors. Then we were sorted into groups according to our gender (Boys in a group, girls in a group). We've learned a lot from this activity: our body parts, gender, blue and red colors, numbers 1 and 2.

The Best Gift I Ever Received: East Elementary School, CO, USA

What makes a gift the best you ever had? There are many gifts which are given to us, but some gifts are so different...they give us the feeling of being special! Second graders at East Elementary School in Colorado, USA, made a very cute video about the best gift they ever received. Mrs. Tiffany Eddins Trevenen, thank you ... it's a fun project we love to make and share.

My Favorite Place To Visit Project: Al- Marj School, Bekaa

Together with second graders at Makassed Al- Marj School
After our first visit to Makassed Al- Marj School in Bekaa on National Tree Day, we feel privileged to be able to share a new project about our favorite places to visit in our country along with Bal Bharati Public School in India. The pleasure of planting together hand- in- hand in Bekaa opens the door to making new Makassediyeen friends. Second graders shared their drawings and wrote about what makes these places special. We'll also share our activity with you next week followed with discussion and a class survey about the most beautiful wonders and cities in Lebanon. Thank you Mr Adel Bahlawan, Mr Jamal Farhat and Mr Assad for sharing....a new beginning with the New Hijri Year...wishing you all the best!

Cooperative learning method: STAD

During the last math session students experienced a new learning method:Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) After I explained a math lesson about kinds of angles and how to draw and measure them, students worked in teams to make sure that everyone mastered the objectives of this lesson. Then all students made a quiz about the material given, and every student's score was compared to his previous test score(also about angles). Students, who exceeded their previous averages with their quiz scores, were rewarded by taking green cards that were summed according to team membership. Here's a bar graph that shows how students' scores improved after performing STAD. This site helps you know more about cooperative learning methods: http://www.cast.org/publications/ncac/ncac_peermii.html
